Add a Blog = 3 - 5 mins?

README: I wanted a blog to my chosen theme. X5 couldn't give me that so....
I went to the Wordpress website and came away dismayed!
THEN I thought I'm sure I've seen Wordpress in my Server Control Panel.

Your Hosting Company's Control Panel
Surely that can't be right? 3 - 5 mins! But it is I can assure you... I have one of these blogs on here, on this website for my X5 webmaster's members. The X5 blog is OK, but it's limited... very limited!! How would you like access to 1000's of templates and useable scripts to feature anything you want on your blog? Introducing: WORDPRESS! (Yes It's FREE!!)
I have just created one of these for our local Hospital Radio Group and they said "How much do you want for setting it up?" What do you charge per minute I thought? ha ha.

The hosting company you choose should have a control panel to manage your server details. I know these are very confusing to some users and they take one look at all the features on the panel!... then one word springs to mind? Sh!t! followed by what do I do here?
Simple start clicking and learning, if you can read this you are on your way to producing the blog of your OWN chosen Theme!

Wordpress

This blog feature could be located in Fantasico or it might just be under it's Logo: Wordpress. Either way just open it up and follow the instructions. You need a database for the comments..... but don't be put off by this as most hoster's already give you one or two free of charge. Setting up the blog literally takes minutes and it's mostly fill in boxes and at the end a submit button to end the whole process of installing the blog.

The next stage is where it becomes most interesting? Your blog is on your server under the chosen name you provided and you go online to view it instantly! Login to start your blog off, insert a link on your website to the blog and away you go.

Templates

There are 1000's of Wordpress templates online! Just go to the Wordpress website! The majority of the templates are FREE! but there are a select few that aren't. These are produced by webmasters or programmers who make these to their own particular design's for a fee.

Now I suppose you are wondering why am I looking at templates when I have one? Well you can install any chosen template in minutes again!
Believe it or not! You may have 3 already installed in Wordpress probably called: Classic, Standard etc... You can change these like you change the template style in X5 so your blog could be standard one day and classic the next.

Anyhow going back to choosing a template online! Any theme you like can be chosen to match the style of your website and if you have a FTP Client can be installed into the themes folder in Wordpress in a jiffy. These will show up automatically in Wordpress ready to change to the theme you want. (The folder the themes are in will be called: wp-content)
Download the template following the instructions given to you on the Wordpress website.

Security
Because this blog was installed by your server the security is excellent. Your admin pages and comments are protected automatically. If you would like it even more secure... put in place a Login script to access the site for your users to use.

No Hosting Cpanel?

If you find you have no facilities for the Blog from your Hosting Company. You can search online for an internet Blog! One such site I have personally used is Blogger.com this is an easier choice I think for the novice. The Blog on here has been created by Wordpress, the thing is with these Blogs they also update your RSS Feed automatically. So in actual fact you are killing two birds with one stone!

Security
This Blog can be configured to allow only members or the public to join in. It also has many features... such as a spam filters and it lets you control the comments etc.. many many features to numerous to mention. I would suggest checking it out if you REALLY need this facility.
