DIY APACHE HTAccess

This does exactly the same as above except you have to do it FREE!! online!!

To password protect a folder in your server Cpanel follow the steps below. A login dialog with username and password will be shown to users who are trying to gain access to a protected folder.

- Login to cPanel
- Choose Password Protect Directories
- Select a folder to protect
- Select users who should have access to the folder, or populate UserName and Password field and click Add New User button if you want to grant access user who is not on the list.

N.B. You will have to disable the unused Frontpage Extentions before implementing the above

JavaScript may not be the best way to password-protect a webpage, but for those who do not have access to a CGI-BIN, it may very well be the only way. To provide these people with a decent JavaScript password protector that will keep out at least the average surfer, use this encrypted password generator.
This program dynamically encrypts the password to a page (differently each time) before saving it, making it a LOT harder for foul-minded users to break in. The program is similar to Gatekeeper, in that the file you are protecting it must be renamed to match the password you have chosen.
