Pro Design > Paint.net

This program will set your imagination on fire!

When you open Paint.net for the first time, you have in front of you a 800 X 600 Canvas.
And you should have 4 Tool Boxes:
History, Colors, Layers, Tools!
What we'll do for now is insert some text into a photograph/image to show you a bit about the program.

On the Top Menu Bar under
File you have an open Folder Icon. Click on this and go to your image or photo you would like to modify click OK. (Notice the image is now in the Layers Box)
Once in the program you can crop it down to a smaller size by Picking up the
Selection Tool in the left hand Tools Box (Its the top left a dotted square) Draw your square around the area you want, then go to Image on the Top Menu Bar and Crop to selection.
Go back to the
Tools Box and click on the Letter A this is the Text Tool. Take it to your image and click it to put it there. Notice on the Top Menu Bar under the Icons is the Font & size you are using.

On the right in Colors you can change the color by clicking on the palette/color chart at the bottom. Start typing what you want in the image, adjust Font, Size and color, then place the text where you want it on the image. Saving the Image: Go to File (Top Left) select Save as.... and transfer the image to any Folder on your computer and save it as a jpg.

Special Effect

To put a special effect round the text:
Insert image, go to
Layers in the Top Menu Bar select Add New Layer (Notice in the Layers Box you have two Layers now) Insert your text Font, Size, Color and then go to the Effects in the Top Menu Bar (For this example) Go to Object/Outline Object you will notice you have an outline round your text. Choose the Color, Radius and Strength click OK.
Go to
Image in Top Menu Bar and go to the bottom to Flatten the Image. You have now joined the two Layers together to make one image. Save as..... ________.jpg in your folder.

Adding an Image

While you have your image in front of you its quite easy to insert another image inside the main image.
Go to
Layers/Import From File and select your image.
